As I'd manage to get the blog up to date over the summer, I decided a bit of blog housekeeping was in order. Basically I decided to make the tree's location description more uniform as some trees were listed by road, some by town etc.
As I was updating the trees descriptions I noticed on Google maps that sadly some trees no longer existed. By checking older Streetview images I could see some had clearly died and been removed, whilst others had simply disappeared, whether they had started to die or were no longer wanted can't be discerned from the photos, however it led me to making a simple decision. I have now added a new icon to the map (see below), which I will use to indicate a place where there was once a monkey puzzle tree, that I now know is no longer there.
Whilst checking Google maps for the names of roads etc. where monkey puzzles were located, I also discovered something truly unexpected and remarkable, which I will detail in my next post!
